This morning our CEO Nicola Byrne was in conversation with Shirley O’Regan, host of ‘Wellness Wednesday’ on WestLimerick102FM.

Nicola spoke about the work of Shine, highlighting how individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges can access help and support around their recovery both online and face to face. The conversation also focused on the importance of peer support which can be especially beneficial for family members/supporters of people with mental health challenges.

 

She also talked about the importance of self-care, and the impact of our education programmes See Change -The National Mental Health Stigma Reduction Partnership and Headline who support the media in responsible reporting of mental health and suicide.

Shine Resource Centre Cork to host Weekly Relaxation Technique Workshops

DO YOU LIVE IN OR AROUND CORK CITY?

With the support of the Cork Education Training Board (CETB) we would like to invite you to join our weekly relaxation technique group at our Shine Resource Centre, Cork, starting Tuesdays, March 8th, 2.30 – 4.30pm

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This group aims to equip learners with self-help steps to reduce stress and increase relaxation. Learners will learn about, and practice various effective relaxation techniques that they can use to increase their personal wellness and ability to cope with life stressors.

Effective Communication for Better Relationships

Build self-esteem and develop skills and awareness to improve communication in ways that help enhance the quality of life and relationships.

This course involves learning about what you already know! By learning to listen better, we greatly improve our relationship with ourselves and others. Building self confidence in a safe atmosphere, that is supportive and fun. Learning to find time for you and the things you enjoy doing. Have you ever found yourself saying “yes” when you really wanted to say “no”? Learn the skills of saying “no” by being respectful to you and others.
