Shine Online Support Groups
Our June 2022 4-Week Introductory Groups are for:
People Living with self-experience of mental health challenges
and
Relatives and supporters of a person with mental health challenges.
Would you like to join one of our upcoming 4-Week Introductory Online Support Group for mental health recovery?
We will meet weekly for one hour over 4 weeks. The sessions will be delivered over Zoom.
If you are over 18 and live in Ireland, you are invited to register below for the Online Support Group best suited to you.
Each group will have a maximum of 14 participants.
Trained Shine facilitators will facilitate groups, and each week we will share and support one another. Our group introduces and explores what peer support and recovery can mean for you.
During our sessions, we will:
Support you to open up about what you are feeling and experiencing in a safe and facilitated environment
Introduce you to ideas and approaches that others have found helpful
Reassure you that you are not alone in how you are feeling
Help you to connect with others and give you a sense of belonging
Encourage you to value your strengths
Build your self-esteem and confidence
Help you to feel more hopeful about the future
Group 1 – Living with self-experience of mental health challenges
WHEN: Thursdays June 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th (06:30pm – 07:30pm)
Group 2 – Relatives and supporters of a person with mental health challenges
WHEN: Tuesdays June 14th, 21st, 28th and July 5th (11am – 12noon) OR (06:30pm – 07:30pm)8 Week Co-Facilitated Online Recovery Support Groups
Our 8-week online support groups are designed to develop your individual skills and understanding of the importance of Peer Support and Recovery Concepts. We will meet weekly for 75 minutes, where our sessions are delivered over Zoom. Each group will have a maximum of 14 participants.
Group 1 –Relatives and Supporters of people with lived experience of mental health challenges.
WHEN: Tuesdays March 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th & April 5th,12th, 19th, 26th (6pm – 7.15pm) FULLY BOOKED
Group 2 – People with lived experience of mental health challenges.
WHEN: Wednesdays March 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th & April 6th,13th, 20th, 27th (6pm – 7.15pm)
Both groups will be co-facilitated by trained Shine facilitators and each week we will share and support one another. During our sessions we will:
⦁ Build Peer to Peer Connection and Support
⦁ Through discussion, introduce recovery topics
⦁ Develop individual recovery skills and tools

Martin Matthews
Martin Matthews the Coordinator of Shine in the south east will be one of your hosts. Martin has expressed his excitement in being part of Shines new series of online workshops, and said "This program of Shine online support groups will provide the opportunity for more people to avail of mental health support”

Shaun McGuinness
Originally from Waterford, Shaun currently works in Shine's Dublin Resource Centre, providing individual and group based supports for those experiencing mental health challenges and their families. Shaun has an appreciation for how unique each individual's goals and needs can be. An avid lover of history, film, music, sport and the occasional pub quiz. His favourite podcast is Dan Carlin's Hardcore History and his pastimes include trying not to embarrass himself too much in the local 5 a side and Tag Rugby leagues"
How to register for our 2022 Online Support Groups
Groups will be by video call delivered over Zoom.
To be eligible for an online Support group, you must have access to:
A mobile/computer/tablet with a camera that allows you to join video calls
Reliable broadband that will allow you to join video calls
A quiet, personal space that will allow you to partake without distraction

*Please note that groups will not take place on public/bank holidays.

*people with lived experience sessions last an average of between 60-90 minutes, and relatives and friends sessions last between 90-120 minutes.

8 Week Co-Facilitated Online Recovery Support Group
Our 8-week online support group is designed to develop your individual skills and understanding of the importance of Peer Support and Recovery Concepts. We will meet weekly for 90 minutes, where our sessions are delivered over Zoom.
We have 8 places available.
Group – People with lived experience of mental health challenges.
WHEN: Wednesdays May 18th, 25th & June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th & July 6th (6:30pm – 8pm)
The group will be co-facilitated by trained Shine facilitators and each week we will share and support one another. During our sessions we will:
