Chasing the Rainbow

Chasing the rainbow. Leaving sparks of light. Spinning and weaving through dusky clouds, entwined with light. As I sleep I imagine these hues of light and shade breathing out a rainbow of colour. Liquid gold of heavenly sunlight pours over the earth below, like golden syrup, drowning everything in its path. Mist billows on the ground below, thick grey clouds of it and under bare feet, golden sand. The water ripples to the ocean and it swirls at my toes, tickling the soles of my feet and I lift my food out of the mush of sand below. I gaze up at the mountains glaring down at us with a magnificent presence. I imagine eagles soaring high their wings scraping the sky and I wished for rain. Rain it did through the sunlight and a rainbow appears. It is visible yet no one can reach it. Instead I follow the rainbow and see it lands in the ocean. The water will quench the end of the rainbow and lap it up in warm clear water. The sun and sky and rain will merge to form this rainbow until it dies like angel’s breath.
